Peterlee 2013: Cancelled

The organisers of the Peterlee tattoo convention have hit some rough times lately. Firstly Eddie Hardiman, man of the show, has been suffering illness recently and has just come out of hospital (literally just yesterday). His recovery will be a long one.

Tragically, the guys have now been hit again with the passing of Big Al, the show’s compere. Big Al passed away suddenly before Christmas, and it has hit the organisers hard, as he was also a friend. Our deepest sympathies go out to Big Al’s friends and family, and we agree that the show will not be the same without him. Big Al was a great guy, and he was really funny and friendly a perfect compere.

Due to these events, the Peterlee show this year has been cancelled. As sad as I am about this, I hope you’ll agree that the grieving of Big Al’s loved ones, and Eddie’s recovery is a lot more important. The guys at the Peterlee convention have always been great to Tattoosday UK, and I hope that everyone is feeling a lot better and happier soon.

If you would like to leave well wishes, please feel free to do so on Facebook. If you don’t like Facebook, you can also leave a comment below and I’ll pass it on.

Here’s to Peterlee’s return in 2014!

Just seen in Total Tattoo that Peterlee convention 2013 is cancelled. Big Al’s passing is a great loss to the community. As you say, he was a ‘larger-than-life’ guy and managed to keep the proceedings going when all around threatened to slow to a gallop! He will be sorely missed.

I trust that Ed will be back to rude health before too long. My best wishes to him, get well soon.
