No, Tattoos Don’t Give you Cancer.

I think this may be more of a rant than a post.

Ah, the Daily Mail. I loathe you. And I loathe that people see crap you’ve written and worry about it, even though that’s basically the point in mainstream ‘journalism’.

If you haven’t already seen this, there’s a new article from the Daily Mail saying that tattoos will give you cancer. Well, sort of. In true Daily Mail fashion, they claim this is true in their scary headline, then, as Matt Lodder pointed out on Facebook, turn 180 degrees at the very end and say, “Therefore, we are unable to evaluate for chronic health concerns, such as cancer.” So, with a confusing piece of crap article like that, I guess you’re wondering, do tattoos actually give you cancer?

Of course they fucking don’t.

Well, to a degree. In all honesty, if you’re going to some idiot in their house to get a tattoo instead of a studio, they could be using anything for their inks, so anything could happen (as well as the health risks that already go with that!), however a good studio will be using the best inks around, so it shouldn’t make any difference at all.  Yet another good reason to go to a great tattoo studio!

Look, people have been getting tattoos for thousands of years and haven’t got cancer as a result. Your health, if you go to a great tattoo studio, is not at risk at all. I don’t know what the Daily Mail get out of making people scared all of the time, but you all have nothing to worry about. It’s all stupid. But then, this is a Daily Mail article. Just take a look at the comments section for that article, and you’ll see the kinds of people who allow them to still spread around bollocks every day.

If you’re still wondering about this, why not take a look here at everything else the Daily Mail says will give you cancer. Honestly, if you read this newspaper, please don’t ever speak to me:

From Russell Howard’s Good News, BBC3.

As I see it, tattooed people are much more aware of things like sun-block, so therefore are less likely to develop skin cancer. So fuck you Daily Mail, tattoos PREVENT cancer!

There are many things I could say about this, but I am too busy laughing at one comment in particular.

“in norway approximately 50% of the citizenry have a tattoo, most are in easilly concealable locations (as are my four), there is no stigma attached to them and we find we just dont give much of a damn what anyone wants to do to themselves. but then, our research on whales (hunting them) is still in the “how tasty are they” phase (pretty damned tasty)

I would like to point out that I in no way support the killing of Whales.
