Fine Art: Heather Gabel.

Let’s change the mood with some fine art today- is that cool with all of you?

Heather Gabel is one of those artists whose work you’ve seen a bunch of times, but you’ve never known she did it. Has anyone seen the infamous Alkaline Trio heart and skull logo (if you go to any tattoo convention, I can bet you’ll see at least one on someone’s skin!) or any of their t-shirts? What about My Chemical Romance, Joan Jett or AFI, among a whole range of other bands?

You’ve seen her work, you just don’t know it.

Heather Gabel is one of my favourite artists. As someone who’s been a big part of San Francisco’s art scene for years, Heather has had her fine art put in more galleries than many people have even been to, and she’s seen the world touring and selling her t shirts with her friends, Alkaline Trio. Her fine art is absolutely breathtaking, and is like something you’ve never seen before, yet feel so familiar with.

From her website:

Inspired by fancy grandmas, mossy trees, jaunty caps, prosthetic limbs, flowers, old movies and the overall grandeur of the past, Heather cleverly juxtaposes classic imagery with clean, stark lines and cutting irony.

If you’re looking for a bit of inspiration for your artwork or your next tattoo, you can’t really go wrong with Heather Gabel- one look at her online gallery, and you’ll find your imagination go nuts.

Here are a couple of my favourite pieces by Heather- there are lots and lots more here on her website!

'True Devotion is Unwavering'

'Meet Me There'

  1. Thank you, I have just been looking for information about this subject for a long time and yours is the greatest I’ve came upon till now. However, what about the conclusion? Are you positive concerning the supply?|What i don’t understood is in fact how you are not actually much more neatly-appreciated than you might be right now. You’re very intelligent.
