Awesome Cris Cleen Interview on Sang Bleu
Sang Bleu has just posted an interview with Cris Cleen, which you need to read. If you didn’t know already, Cris is a tattooer in New York who does really great work. It’s really distinguishable, and has this turn of the century erotic sort of feel. It’s tattooing for the sake of tattooing, which I love.
I also love this interview, as short and sweet as it is. It shies away from the normal boring bullshit like, “So, when did you start tattooing?”, or “what’s your favourite colour?” (genuinely read that question once). Instead it dives straight in with, “Why is it important for you to explore male sexuality as well as female?”. Brilliant.
Snippet:
3) What do you love the most about the turn of the (20th) century?
In the art sense, I like that similar to tattooing , suggestive art was a rebellion and deemed despicable. I like that artist might be prosecuted for their works.
You can read the full interview here, and I highly recommend you do. Cris Cleen can be found at Saved Tattoo, or online here.
