Evolution Pays it Forward
When I’m not working hard here, my writing duties include Tattooist Art features, odd freelance jobs and manning the Tattoo.TV news page with the lovely Alexa MacDermot. Yesterday I was super dis-organised and managed to write a news post Alexa had already covered- doh! I thought you guys might like to see it instead,, for today’s post of the day. :)
If you’re a regular reader, you’ve probably already noticed that tattoo artists can be a charitable lot. More often than not, artists love to hold fundraisers and charity auctions, and it’s always lovely to see everyone come together as a community to give something back. Evolution Tattoo, in Kidlington, are no different with their upcoming fundraiser next month for Oxford Children’s Hospital! The fundraiser will have many guest artists, live music and an auction, among many other great goings on.
“Why Oxford Children’s Hospital?”, I’m pretending to hear you ask. Paul and Carly Humphreys, who own the studio, now hold a special place for the hospital in their hearts after their baby boy, Presley- Ray, needed urgent medical attention after being born with a twisted bowel. Thankfully the hospital did all they could to treat Preston- Ray, who is now healthy and happy. From the Oxford Mail:
Mr Humphreys, 33, said: “They said they had to open him up and have a look. They were pretty sure it was a twisted bowel, but did not know how far it had gone.
“They said that in the worst-case scenario he would not survive. They said if no blood was getting to it, he could have died quite quickly.
“Of course, you naturally presume the worst.”
He said: “When we got back from the hospital, we immediately thought we wanted to give something back, and this will be a bit different.”
The event will be held on one day only, on the 27th of January, and starts at 10am. Guest artists who will be working on the day include Oddboy, Michael Rose, Leah Moule and Nick Whybrow, as well as the Evolution Tattoo crew. There will also be a live band, an auction and a raffle- with more to come! Children will be welcome all day, so you won’t have to worry about looking for a baby sitter, and of course it’s all for a good cause- so if you live nearby, make sure you get yourself there!
